What good cause did you raise money for and what did you do?

I completed a walking marathon for Mind, the mental health charity, in honour of World Mental Health day.

Why did you particularly want to support that cause?

When I was diagnosed with type two bipolar, and borderline personality disorder, Mind helped me come to terms with my diagnosis and see that it didn’t change the things I couldn’t achieve in life. I wanted to pay it back!

How did it go?

Considering that I walked the whole 26 miles on a dislocated bone in my foot (which I didn’t actually know about at the time!), pretty well. 26 miles in eight hours.

How much have you raised and how does it feel to know your walking has helped others?

About £200 and it feels awesome – I love walking anyway, and it made sense to me to complete my challenge as a solo walker to highlight the fact that too many people face the challenge of mental health issues alone.

What has your experience taught you about how to make your fundraising as successful as possible?

Tell your story! Make sure people know why you are doing what you’re doing. That way, you are far more likely to find a common ground and get that extra few quid!Yes definitely!
