‘The messages from the authorities changes on a daily and sometimes hourly basis, leading to confusion and bewilderment about what to do to protect out health. But while many people are now working from home there is no better time to enjoy the benefits of walking. Our bodies are designed to walk. Every organ in your body from heart to liver to brain and skin benefits from the activity. Perfusing our lungs with oxygen while we walk leads to increased muscle power, and improved digestion. Exposure to the sun aids our Vitamin D production and lifts our mood.

’The benefits of a daily walk can be counted in many ways. It’s a simple way to stay healthy while maintaining social distance and costs virtually nothing.  Always match your footwear to you activity, and remember, being on foot, and being on foot outside particularly, has extraordinary benefits – it’s essential for mental and physical well-being. And #walk1000miles is amazing! Such a collegiate community focused on something it’s immensely important we do more as a society: walking.’
