Walk of the month: ‘I’m aching ALL OVER’

Seven-time 1000-miler Lizzie Wright from Norfolk says the challenged has transformed her life and has just completed the one of the country’s toughest walks to prove it.

The Lakes 24 Peaks involves over 12,000ft feet of ascent over 31 miles in just two days and was ‘absolutely the hardest thing I have ever done’ says Lizzie. But she did it – starting at 6.15am each morning and finishing at 6.30pm each evening. ‘Day 1 we had incredible weather and views – sunrise on the way up Bowfell, amazing views from Scafell Pike, the best and most needed lunch ever on Lingmell and then a horrible slog up Great and Green gable with very very tired legs. Day 2 was fog and rain all day and 15 peaks that I didn't pay much attention to! I am aching ALL OVER but am so proud’ says Lizzie, who’s also lost over two stone and found love through the challenge. ’I’m much fitter than I have ever been. I relish getting out in the mornings to walk. I love the fact that this is a part of my everyday routine and it has brought me health, happiness, freedom, friendships and love. Walk1000 has given me the time and space to discover who I am and what I want in life.’
