In Summer 2017 we spent a week on Plose, a mountain in South Tyrol, Italy hiking. The landscape there is simply stunning as you have a perfect view of the Dolomites, a magical little lake with perfect reflections of the mountains surrounding it and lots of little Austrian/Italian villages on your way up to this beautiful mountain. The people there couldn't have been nicer showing us their working methods and serving us their best local foods of the region.

"Within Two Worlds depicts an alternate perspective by giving us the illusion of times movement, signifying a beginning and end within a world of constant contradiction. It appears you are traveling in the midst of a dream, half-sleeping, half-waking, and touching the arch connecting heaven and earth."
I discovered my passion for photography shortly after my mother’s passing while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) 3 years ago. This time-lapse video is my visual representation of how the night sky and landscapes co-exist within a world of contradictions. I hope this connection between heaven and earth inspires you to discover and create your own opportunities, to reach your rightful place within two worlds.

For my second aerial film, entitled ‘Wild Scotland’, I wanted to showcase some of the wilderness this magnificent country has to offer. From the Highlands and Islands on the west coast to John O’Groats and North Berwick on the east I’ve captured just a fraction of the stunning wilderness which Scotland has to offer.
I’ve spent the last few months travelling up and down the country capturing locations, carefully planning my schedule to take advantage of the best light, be that dawn or dusk. Along the way I’ve been lucky to pick up some unexpected shots such as deer near Ardnamurchan and a large group of seals in a bay near John O’ Groats at the very top of the British mainland. I was lucky to experience a prolonged spell of good weather so filming this was a much faster process than for my first aerial film; Beautiful Scotland - vimeo.com/100426447
Making this film involved a series of mini adventures. Hiking up Bidein a'Ghlas Thuill at 3am in the pitch dark, to film the spectacular serrated ridge of An Teallach, and hearing stags roaring in the valleys below is a memory that will stay with me for a very long time. Also filming Bass Rock near North Berwick, which is home is to the world’s largest single rock Gannet colony with some 40,000 pairs of birds, at first light was a real treat.
The film was mostly shot on the DJI Inspire 1 and for the more remote locations I used the DJI Phantom 3 which can be packed in a backpack really easily.
Big shout out to Drew Gibson who has done another magnificent job colour grading this and also to Pete Smith (www.thesoundspace.co.uk/) who created the sound mix. Cheers also to Rob Waugh (facebook.com/curiousrobinfilms) for feeding back throughout the edit and helping suggest locations.

Using text adapted from Robert Marshalls "Alaska Wilderness: Exploring the Brooks Range" (1929) and images from Expedition Arguk (2013), "The World Beyond the World" aims to celebrate that most ancient and sublime of human pleasures: moving through a mysterious, beautiful, and unknown landscape.
In 2013, Expedition Arguk walked and packrafted across 300 miles of wilderness in the Alaska Arctic in order to report on Arctic issues and create public-use media from this far-off but increasingly important region. "The World Beyond the World" was shot during the first third of our trip, which took place entirely in Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve. Gates of the Arctic is the second-largest US National Park, but its extraordinary remoteness and challenging weather mean that the Park sees relatively few visitors. There are no guidebooks, trails, campgrounds, or roads. Most of the photos that make up this film are available for 100% free, unrestricted public use at www.expeditionarguk.com
Assembled entirely from stills shot with a Nikon D7100 camera, using a Nikon 55-200 VR and a Tokina 11-17 ultrawide lens. Post-production in Photoshop and After Effects, with countless hours on a Wacom Intuos4 tablet.

In May 1988, girlfriends Claudia Brenner and Rebecca Wight were attacked while hiking the Appalachian Trail by a 'mountain man' named Stephen Roy Carr. IN THE HOLLOW tells the story of the shooting, Wight's death, and Brenner's desperate survival (and later transformation into an advocate for hate crime legislation in the U.S.) as she returns to the trail for the first time since the shooting.
The film combines documentary and narrative film elements, using the actual locations on the trail and dramatizations written by Claudia Brenner and director/screenwriter Austin Bunn based on her testimony. The film follows Brenner as she hikes the Appalachian Trail in search of the site of the shooting and path of her survival.

This is a short film about the processes by which mountains are created and eventually destroyed. It is based upon the work of British geographer L. Dudley Stamp, and was shot in Iceland.
Physical geography and geology is an enormous and fascinating subject, and this film only touches upon the surface of the discipline. For those who wish to further advance their knowledge in this field, additional reading and research is recommended.
The film was created as part of The Weight of Mountains filmmaker residency program. For more information please visit http://www.twom.is/
The voiceover was largely based on publications from 1951, so please forgive the outmoded use of the term "mankind" and "his" actions.

I spent 3 weeks in Lofoten, Senja, Andoya and Vesteralen and discovered the true beauty of this place. It's magical to see the mountains rise up from the sea, to see the fjords, the amazing landscapes, the midnight sun, the clouds, and the lovely villages. It was also a great time to visit the Lofoten Islands with it's 24 hours of daylight in the summer. I absolutely loved the midnight sun! I won't forget the midnight hike to the top of the Segla (Senja) or standing above the clouds in Tromso. This film is a collection of the unforgettable experiences.
Enjoy the video :-)

Over the past 8 or so months I've travelled around Scotland usually getting up at offensively early times to get good light. I wanted to make a film which really shows what a beautiful country Scotland is. Living in Edinburgh we're fortunate to have some truly magnificent sights on our doorstep.
Filming this has been incredible, most of the shots have involved some kind of adventure. From camping on top of Sgurr a’Mhaim as the sun sets, driving overnight to the Old man of Storr on Skye catching the sun rise and stomping through fields chasing the Jacobite Steam Train.
Shot on a DJI Phantom 2 with a Gopro 3+ (with FPV) this little Quadcopter is quite incredible. It allows you to get shots that a helicopter couldn’t even get into. By shooting 2.7k on the Gopro I was able to scale up the footage in a 1920p sequence to get tighter shots, this allowed me to stay within the CAA UAV regulations. The Gopro was shooting mosting on 2.7k Medium or Wide CAMRAW and was graded with speedgrade. Despite it’s size the camera is great as long as there is enough light! Hopefully over the next few months i’ll be upgrading to the DJI s900 which will take a GH4 camera.
I found a great website called Suncalc which projects a chart onto google maps which shows you the angle that the sun will rise from at specific times which was really helpful in planning where to be when. Fortunately the Met Office and MWIS forecasts were pretty spot on so there weren’t too many wasted trips. Walkhighlands.com has been a great resource for researching routes
In the film there are shots from Skye – Quairang, Old man of Storr, Buachaille Etive Mor, Sgurr a’Mhaim – Devil’s Ridge, Ben Nevis, Forth Rail Bridge, Dunbar, Rannoch Moor, Wallace Monument, Edinburgh, Glenfinnan Viaduct, The Kelpies.

The path to exploring Australia’s true spirit is right beneath our feet.
Uncover its magnificent landmarks and hidden gems, one step at a time.
Walk pack free and enjoy comfortable, esuited accommodations and a la carte meals along the way.
Being among Europe's toughest and most challenging long distance hiking trails, the "Grande Randonnée 20" on Corse crosses the French island's mountain range from North to South. The path leads over exposed ridgelines and deep valleys, featuring stunning panoramic views and dense magical forests. After having walked the northern part of the trail in 2010, I knew I had to come back and walk the whole distance. Although hiking was my number one priority, as I was obsessed with walking every single step of the 180km path, I still brought my DSLR camera and a small tripod. Whenever the conditions would allow it, I took pictures for this movie. These three weeks, however, had it all: Huts being closed because of potential forest fires and hikers being rescued because of incredibly swollen rivers. Thanks to these droughts, floodings, storms and ice most of the pictures taken for this timelapse movie were near the lodges. So, while successfully solo-hiking the whole trail southbound despite the sometimes nasty weather, I cannot say I succeeded in portraying the trail's true beauty, unfortunately. You will have to go there and see for your own eventually... Until then, I hope you enjoy this movie.
The whole idea was inspired mainly by the breathtaking video "Yosemite HD" (https://vimeo.com/35396305) by Project Yosemite (hence the same music: M83's "Outro", http://ilovem83.com). Obviously I did not want to carry a Dolly or any other automated tripod with me (plus I don't even have one...), so I just used my Canon 5D MKII with the TC-80 N3 timer and the smallest Cullman tripod that was able to hold my Canon 16-35mm lens. The wind was blowing so strong at times that I had to secure the small tripod with huge rucks. This was my first time ever experimenting with time lapse and, in hindsight, I learned quite a bunch about which settings work under certain circumstances and I am looking forward to photographing my next timelapse movie - wherever that may be - and (hopefully) seeing some improvements.
