#walk1000miles' official tracking partner Ordnance Survey is always looking to get more people out and about, and as part of their GetOutside initiative they've been looking to find the most inspiring people outdoors.
After sifting through 700 applications from the wonderful and inspirational British public, OS crowned a set of 2018 Champions, and here's one of them: Kate Jamieson.
"As someone who's grown up spending time in the great British countryside, I'm so proud to have been selected as an OS GetOutside Champion, meaning I can share my love and enthusiasm for being outdoors with the world, or those who choose to follow me!
"I blog about the outdoors, and try to cover everything but mostly love spending time by the sea, in the mountains or riding around on my bike. I try to spread the message that you don't need to be climbing Everest, or walking the length of the country (though if you want to do that, that's brilliant too) it can be as simple as getting outside at the weekend or going for a walk or bike ride after work. It's whatever you are capable of, and it's probably more than you think!
"Campaigns like #Walk1000miles are fantastic, as it gives you a goal to work towards, whether you're on your first foray into the outdoors or a seasoned hiker. Someone once joined the phrase "the doorstep mile", saying that the hardest part of any adventure is taking that first step, so why not see where that first step takes you!"
