1000-miler Tony Walker was enjoying a wintry adventure in the Dales when he saw a familiar figure crunching towards him – Emmerdale's very own Chris Chittell, better known as Eric Pollard!
Chittell has played Emmerdale's Eric Pollard for 31 years.
Like Tony, 69-year-old Chittell (Emmerdale's longest-serving character) was battling to the summit of Penyghent, perhaps the shapeliest of the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
Says Tony of the encounter: "I was sat having my lunch when I saw him plodding up to the cairn. I said 'I do believe your Eric Pollard', and swiftly apologised for not knowing his real name! We passed pleasantries and I asked him for a quick picture. Very nice bloke!'
And clearly the real-deal when it comes to walking!
