To celebrate National Walking Month, the fellowship of 1000-milers (and to do something fun with the May issue of Country Walking’s free postcards or that postcard you’ve had in the kitchen drawer since 2006), we’re encouraging you to send a message to a stranger. Because does any of us get enough nice mail through the letterbox? And aren't postcards just rather lovely?

It’s already the biggest postcard exchange in walking ever – and you have until midnight on 1 June to join in!

All you have to do to take part is…

1 Click here or the button below to enter your address, by midnight on 1 June. We’ll match you with a random recipient (and you’ll be the recipient given to a different person.)

2 Check your email on 2 June for who your recipient is. NB: the email will come from #walk1000 miles Secret Santa (secretsanta@walk1000miles.co.uk) because it’s the elves’ summer job!

3 Send a postcard (one of your free CW ones or any other) with a friendly message of your choosing.

4 Receive one soon after and feel warm inside.
