“I'm knitting a scarf – two rows per day. The colour represents the number of miles walked, with a special shiny purple stripe when I reached 1000 miles.” – Mandy Cooke

“I’m making a walking blanket. I crochet one square a day with a colour depicting what I've seen that day – yellow and brown for a sunflower, blue for a kingfisher, purple for sloe berries etc.” – Christine Stevens

“This is what 1000 miles looks like in £1 coins.” – Pat Toulson

“I used to have a penny jar, but it was too easy to dip into, so now every milestone I send money to a lady I know and admire who runs a poultry sanctuary all out of her own pocket. Even a couple of pounds buys apples, lettuce, cucumber or tins of sweetcorn.” – Emma Stanley
