'Let's all wear lipstick on walks, shall we?'

Rosa Strangwige-Wright had an eye-catching proposal to make to the community this month, and she wasn’t beating around the bush: “Can we make a rule that we wear a full face of make up AND BRIGHT lipstick when we go walking and its normal?”

“I miss lipstick” reasoned Rosa, in support of her lockdown-blues-busting scheme.

The conclusion of a good deal of the group was a considered ‘Yes’ and we’re pleased to present a gallery of splendid examples.

Stephanie Marlow offered a surprising benefit: “I think there's probably 2 days in the last 48 years that I have NOT worn lipstick.... and I've never had chapped lips in my life.” Hayley Lou Brimble meanwhile recalled that: “My aunty used to say it felt like going out with no knickers on to not wear her lipstick.”

Judy Weston approved of the scheme saying it was: “Just the incentive I needed to slap on some lippie and to get out for a walk.” Meanwhile Clare Pickford opined: “Being in the middle of nowhere on my own is no excuse for looking shabby” and Hannah Shaindel explained: “I often chuck a bright lip on because walking is when I feel my best so why not look my best sometimes too.”

Laura Setford wore hers outside her mask as: “It made a lady smile who hated masks.”

On the other hand, Frances Smith spoke for a lot of us when she said: “It's usually my legs that are bright red when I get home, with all the snow and rain and cold winds! I don't do make-up, I'd look like a clown by the end of a walk”.

If you have a morale-boosting idea just cos, we’d love to hear it in the Facebook group.
