1000-miler vs the Yorkshire Three Peaks: seize the day!

After a 5-mile Friday morning walk 1000-mile challenger Slinky Baloo was looking forward to a rest before a planned attempt on the Yorkshire Three Peaks on Sunday. Only then a terrible weather forecast came in…

‘The weather forecast was looking rubbish for Sunday but also Saturday. But the whole of Friday looked lovely. So we decided at 1.30pm that we would get ready, travel up to Yorkshire and do the 3 Peaks challenge overnight that night!!!

‘We set off from Horton in Ribblesdale at 7.30pm and arrived back at 7.30am next morning having completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks! I am chuffed to say the least and actually cannot believe I did it. It was touch and go going up the last mountain, Ingleborough (my legs almost gave up on me!) and we did Whernside in complete darkness with only our headtorches. It rained, was windy and the cloud very low so could only see 1-2 metres in front of us! I have now not slept for 32 hours but here is one of me at the trig point on Pen Y Gent! What an adventure.’

Just the 30 miles that day then?! Top marks Slinky!
